Perfection hides fear.

Next time you find yourself in a place where you feel you have to have it all together… it might be wise to ask yourself the question, “what am I afraid of?…”

Maybe it’s that you are afraid of what people think about you? Or what you think of yourself? Maybe it’s a fear that no one will ever love you unless you are perfect?

Well I’m going to close that lid for you right now.

You do not have to be perfect.

The best news I was given and chose to receive… I don’t have to be perfect. It’s not something God expects of me. In fact He knew I was incapable of it in my own strength. That’s why He sent His Son to die that excruciating death on the cross and be raised to life 3 days later… in my place.

He loved me at my worst and continues to love me— no matter what.

Perfection doesn’t equal love.

Love is a decision. In fact true love is loving someone at their worst.

That’s what Jesus did for me… he didn’t wait till I had cleaned up my act… no He stepped into the muck and mire, into my brokenness and continues to do so every single day— no matter how broken, no matter how messy, no matter how too far gone… He alone makes me clean.

Why don’t we have to be perfect?

The bible tells us so.

“And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.”

Colossians 2:13-15 NKJV

What we were not able to fulfill, our Savior fulfilled for us. We’ve been made right with God, we’ve been given the righteousness of Christ. We have been made new. All imperfections, iniquities, sins, all of it, and the shortfalls of tomorrow too… have been nailed to the cross.

We no longer have to strive endlessly to pay a debt that we could not pay.

Our debt has been paid in full — once and for all.

It is finished friend’s.

Receive this truth and go on loving others in a whole new way today! ❤

In a world of noise, writing is the catalyst that drives my focus back to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and reminds me of the hope I have in Him— nothing has changed, yet everything has changed.
