I’m struck by this thought today…
Sometimes He just wants to carry us…
Will we let Him?
It’s so hard sometimes to let Him. It requires humility on our part. It requires allowing ourselves to be weak when society constantly tells us that we need to be strong. We need to have it all together.
It requires a childlike faith that says, “Father I trust You, and I believe You are good to me. Even when the fiery darts of the wicked one tempt me to believe You are not good. Even when the deceptive lies of the enemy taunt me and I begin to fall into a trap believing that if my life doesn’t feel abundant and free, then maybe God’s promises are not true. Maybe I should look elsewhere. Maybe I should give up on faith all together. I choose to trust you even in the midst of the thoughts that constantly bombard me questioning the existence of you. The tapes in my mind that say maybe He’s forgotten about you. Or possibly He doesn’t even exist. It’s all a scam, there can’t be a Savior. You’ve been tricked. You should be afraid. Maybe it’s time you give up. Father I trust You even when the broken world I live in whose knowledge and understanding I seem far too often to allow myself to be conformed to tells me it’s not okay to feel pain. It’s not okay to be broken. It’s your job to pick yourself up from your own boot straps. Its your job to bring yourself comfort. If there is discomfort then something is wrong. It’s your job to fix your life.”
Allowing ourselves to be weak requires a belief in what we cannot see. We rely solely on His word, not on our feelings, they are fleeting and they rarely ever are trustworthy. We trust in His wisdom alone. Believing that when He says, He is good, He is good. End of story. We stand in faith with confidence that it wasn’t just a fickle statement to provide temporary relief in our pain in the moment He said when we are weak, He is strong. He meant every word. He meant it for me and He meant it for you.
His grace is sufficient.
Maybe what He really wants is to show me my weakness to the point where I finally give up, and finally choose to give my life over to Him.
When we come to this place where we are completely desperate for Him, so weak we cannot stand. He shows up. He fights for us. Our Savior’s might is revealed.
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
John 10:10 NKJV
We have an enemy. An evil being that is constantly at war against us. We need to remember that. We need to stand guard, and know that in every moment we are susceptible to temptations. We are human. You do not need to hide out in fear, seeing yourself as a victim with no control and no power against the evil that plagues you. The same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is the same spirit that is within you. We have an omnipotent good God who is for us. He is forever with us. He fights for us. This is our reality… ultimately on the cross the enemy was defeated. The battle has been won.
Yes the truth of the matter may just be that life is incredibly hard right now. I get it. Life may feel very dull. Pointless. The searing pain may be too great to bear and you think it is never going to end. But I’m here to tell you it will end. This is the truth… He has overcome. He loves you. You are not forgotten. You have been set apart. He sees you. He wants to give you a hope and a future. He knows the depths of you. He leads you. He’s here with you lifting your head, giving you the strength to endure today, and tomorrow, and the next day, and the next. He fashioned you. He knows the desires of your heart. He knows what makes you come alive. He isn’t lost. He’s not confused. He isn’t mistaken. He knows what’s he’s doing. He’s got you exactly where He wants you. In the center of His will is the best place to be, no matter how uncomfortable. You are not stuck, nor are you struggling for He holds your life in the palm of His hand. He tells the storm when it will cease before it even begins. He is good, even to you!
Would you let Him carry you today? Would you be weak in His arms and believe the truth in the midst of the war of life… He is carrying you.
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
Matthew 11:28-29 NKJV
