“People always leave.

… or simply cannot stay.”

The Lord only knows why He allows us to go through seasons of such loneliness. Seasons like this one I am in right now. It seems they come far too often for me.

The worst kind– when you are surrounded by people, yet somehow you feel all alone.

In seeking the Lord He has led me to switch my thinking every time I feel lonely and remember… I truly am never alone.

There is purpose in my loneliness…

To find Him

To recognize and be assured that even if I didn’t have a friend in the world… I am never alone.

He is the faithful Friend! He will stick by our side through the thick and the thin.

He will never leave.

No matter what. He remains.

His devotion is unlike any other.

He makes His dwelling place inside of you and me.

If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.
‭‭John‬ ‭14:15-18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Dwell (Greek– menó)

to stay, continue, lodge, sojourn, remain, to rest, settled union, abide, last, endure, survive, continue unchanged, be permanent, persevere, be constant, steadfast (till the end… and with Him there is no end!)

… So in my loneliness I choose to find purpose in it. I choose to look to You. I choose to devote myself to You alone. I choose to direct all my pent up energy on desiring another– on You. I choose to believe You are closer than a brother, even when it doesn’t feel that way. I choose to seek first Your Kingdom. No longer my own. I choose You.

And isn’t your deepest pain the greatest gift you can give to anyone– when you slowly release the fingers from what you hold so tightly and invite someone into your vulnerability?

Naomi Zacharias (The Scent of Water)

I choose to come. Cry with you and share my deepest pain with You.

I choose to in faith believe You are holding me… You weep alongside me… my faithful Friend.

The One who gives Himself fully, holding nothing back.

My best Friend!

You come. You initiate. You welcome. You invite. You pursue. You never leave.

In a world of noise, writing is the catalyst that drives my focus back to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and reminds me of the hope I have in Him— nothing has changed, yet everything has changed.
