Lord give us the faith to always abide in You. To recognize in and of ourselves, apart from You, we can do absolutely NOTHING.

God I want to, but I can’t. I know you can. Help me to rest in the fact that only You can. I CHOOSE to abide in You!

“The Lord has delivered me from all sorts of manifestations of the flesh, but not one time has He delivered me when my eyes were focused on them. There have been times when I was so vexed by a particular problem that I decided to read, study, and overcome. Alas, all that ever came from that was more severe defeat. Only when I have been in an abiding relationship has the Lord delivered me from those exasperations, and I usually never noticed till some time later that they had naturally fallen aside. If you are focused on your troubles right now, you will not find deliverance. The Vine is always to have first place. I am the Vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)

The answer isn’t to dwell… But rather to live

To live the life God has called you to. To not merely just suffer and survive, but to thrive. To be imitators of Christ, which we can be because He LIVES in us!

“What glorious news that the old me I have worked so hard to change was put to death on the cross with Christ. I have received Christ’s life, and all that is true of Him is now true of me.

Flesh will not improve flesh

We said we have tried a myriad of methods to change inner life by something performed in the outer life, and the end result has been nothing more than frustration and the further decline of an ugly identity that is already in need of repair.”

Romans 6

“Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:11‬ ‭

“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness. For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

That idol of body image, or whatever your idol is… It has no power, unless you choose to give it the power.

If you choose to dwell on the defeat, rather than on the victory you have in Christ, than for sure I can promise you what you are battling with in and of your own strength  won’t go away. And it will probably feel like it’s absolutely impossible to overcome.

You can’t overcome the struggle if you’re staring only at the struggle.

But if you choose to fix your eyes on Christ and the power you have through Him living in you. The power that raised Christ from the dead, then you can bet your bottom dollar that it will be more than possible to overcome.

Imagine you are drowning, you are in the middle of the ocean, nothing around, just the waves swallowing you up. Rather than looking for something to save, all you can see is the water that is overtaking you. You have no hope. You are paralyzed by fear. You see no way out. This is the end for you. But then you choose to look up. You see a lifeboat ahead. Instantly there is hope. You hear a man calling out, this man throws out a rescue buoy to you. You realize you are going to live. You are no longer afraid. Someone has come to save.

“What was needed was the supernatural action of God that comes only when we have our eyes off the problem and on Him through abiding.”

In Christ Jesus you have been given the victory! IT IS FINISHED!

The crux of the matter lies not in the tens of thousands of weaknesses and defeats you have but whether you are willing to say God, “O God, I hand over my all to You.”
Handbook To Happiness (Charles R Solomon)

We can live victorious lives, because Christ gives us the power to live victorious lives. We are overcomers through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Nothing can separate us from His love!

“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:37-39‬ ‭

In a world of noise, writing is the catalyst that drives my focus back to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and reminds me of the hope I have in Him— nothing has changed, yet everything has changed.
